The Mother Special

When Mother New York moved to Gowanus in 2021, we wanted to support other independent businesses in the area–while also giving agency folks a way to get to know their new neighbors.

We set up tabs at ten different spots near the office, paying businesses in cash up front to give Mother employees who flashed their membership cards ‘The Mother Special’. From a free drink at our after work bar to free Mommy ink at the nearest tattoo parlor—even candles blessed to help creatives crack a brief at the local botanica—the Mother Special was unique to each business, and genuinely valuable to your average anxious agency person.

We made our own coupon books advertising the specials to Mother employees, and membership cards just for the agency. If you’re gonna support show locally, you gotta do it right.
